Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While gambling on web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player.
