Online poker has become world celebrated recently, with televised championships and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, arcs back quite a bit farther than its television scores. Over the years many variations on the original poker game have been developed, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely resembling chemin de fer than old guard poker, in that the gamblers bet against the house rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little concealment or different types of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up just before the croupier announcing "No further wagers." At that instance, both you and the bank and of course every one of the different players are given 5 cards each. Once you have seen your hand and the bank’s first card, you must either make a call bet or bow out. The call wager’s value is equal to your original ante, which means that the stakes will have doubled. Abandoning means that your wager goes immediately to the bank. After the bet is the showdown. If the dealer does not have ace/king or better, your bet is returned, with a figure in accordance with the original bet. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or greater, you win if your hand beats the casino’s hand. The bank pays out money equal to your ante and set expectations on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for two pairs
  • 3-1 for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
