Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the familiar 52-card basic deck and a single joker. The player is dealt 7 cards faces showing and the casino is dealt seven cards face down.
A 5 card hand and one two card hand must be put together from the seven cards dealt, the five card hand has to be stronger than the two card hand. To succeed, a player is required to have both of his hand values to be higher than the houses.
