Internet poker has become globally acclaimed lately, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game events. Its universal appeal, though, arcs back in reality a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years several variants on the earliest poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with blackjack than traditional poker, in that the players wager against the casino instead of each other. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little concealment or other kinds of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up before the croupier saying "No further bets." At that instance, both you and the casino and of course all of the other gamblers receive 5 cards each. After you have seen your hand and the bank’s initial card, you have to in turn make a call bet or give up. The call wager’s amount is on same level to your original ante, which means that the stakes will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your bet goes immediately to the casino. After the wager comes the face off. If the bank doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, with a figure equal to the ante. If the bank has a hand with ace/king or greater, you win if your hand beats the bank’s hand. The bank pony’s up chips equal to your original bet and fixed odds on your call bet. These expectations are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for two pairs
- 3-1 for 3 of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- 5-1 for a flush
- seven to one for a full house
- 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- 100-1 for a royal flush
