Poker has become globally acclaimed as of late, with televised championships and celebrity poker game events. The games popularity, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years many variations on the first poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to vingt-et-un than traditional poker, in that the players bet against the casino rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or different types of boondoggle. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up before the dealer announcing "No further bets." At that point, both you and the house and of course all of the other players receive five cards. After you have seen your hand and the dealer’s first card, you need to in turn make a call bet or accede. The call wager’s amount is on same level to your original ante, indicating that the stakes will have doubled. Surrendering means that your ante goes instantaneously to the casino. After the bet comes the conclusion. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your bet is given back, with an amount on par with the initial wager. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand beats the dealer’s hand. The house pays out cash equal to your original bet and set odds on your call bet. These odds are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- two to one for two pairs
- 3-1 for 3 of a kind
- 4-1 for a straight
- 5-1 for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
- 50-1 for a straight flush
- 100-1 for a royal flush
